Maca is a vegetable rich in antioxidants and iron that can be cultivated at elevations up to 4000 meters in the hostile Andes environment. 

Red Maca roots were not always separated from Yellow and Black Maca roots, however, it was found that Red Maca has some specific properties therefore producers began offering it separate from the other Maca colours. Red Maca accounts for around 25% of the all the Maca harvested and compared to Black Maca it has a slightly sweeter, gentler and milder taste.

  • Red Maca in particular seems to be the best of all colours for prostate protection and bone density. Red Maca is considered to be slightly more suited towards women with its exceptionally high levels of phythonutrients including alkaloids, tannins, saponis and steroids which can support with menopause, acne, female fertility, energy and libido. However, everyone can enjoy its overall very high antioxidant and nutrient levels.
